Summer Camps

  • Youth Empowered Action Camp is a summer camp for teens aged 12 to 17 who care about community service, activism and social justice.  Click here for more info—>http://yeacamp.org/
  • HEAT is an academic and professional development institute based in Silicon Valley dedicated towards the advancement of the humanities, entrepreneurship, and technology with a curricular focus on Big Data and Data Science applications.Scholarships available!   • NAYA will be offering Native American students summer academy opportunities that you might consider for some of your students.
    • For 3-8 graders they are calling it Summer Camp. Contact person is Dan Rowell and his number is 503-288-8177 ex 212.
    • For 9th graders they are calling it: Summer Leaders. Contact person is Becky May. Same phone number as above but ex: 240.
    • For 10-12 graders they are calling it Summer Ascent. Micky Straw is the contact person and his ex. is 256

Enrichment Camps/Classes

  • Summer Design Camp at the University of Oregon’s Portland location is a great opportunity for students ages 15+ who have an interest in design, art, architecture and product design and are seeking a truly unique summer experience.   • Sophomores or juniors who want to get them to jump start their college essay writing, please encourage them to sign up for the “OWP Writing the College Essay” class, sponsored by Lewis & Clark College, and held at Benson High School from June 24-28 from 9 am to noon.   Click here for more info—> Oregon Writing Project

  • Catlin Gabel “PLACE” Camp. Planning & Leadership Across City Environments. Grades 9-12 & just graduated.  www.catlin.edu/place
  • Cascade Mountain School is actively recruiting middle and high school students for its 2013 summer programs. We’ve got a great line up that will be sure to entice outdoor lovers, science enthusiasts, and multi-sport adventurers looking to get outside this summer. We offer full and partial scholarships.

    • Farm to Table Bike Camp | July 7-13 (rising 8th graders and up) Students will explore Trout Lake, a quiet agricultural valley, by bicycle and get their hands dirty farming while learning about food production and organic agriculture. Afternoons will be dedicated time for recreation, relaxation, and enjoyment.  In the evenings, students will create delicious meals from what they have harvested during the day.
    • Mt. Hood Science Camp | July 21-26 (rising 9th graders and up) – Students will explore the Hood River Valley learning about salmon, climate change, and watersheds, while backpacking, hiking, and kayaking along the Hood River.
    • Field Ecology Academy | August 4-17 (rising 9th graders and up) Students will conduct meaningful ecological research while hiking, backpacking, and camping near Mt. Adams.  Students will spend time exploring alpine meadows, lakes, and glaciers of Mt. Adams, and collaborating with local scientists on relevant ecological studies. Students can work with their school to earn a full semester worth of science credit.
