Letter from the Principal:
Hello Benson Community:
While we didn’t win the football game on Friday night, it was impressive to have a large number of students, parents and other supporters in the stands at Cleveland. I am confident that we will eventually win games, however, the spirit and sportsmanship that have been exhibited by fans, players and coaches is commendable. Thanks for your support.
Next week, teachers will submit first quarter (midterm) progress reports. You also have access to EdBox which includes assignments, tests and current academic progress. If you need help with EdBox, please call 503-916-5100.
I look forward to meeting you at parent/teacher conferences in November.
Carol
Recognition
Last spring we began a new partnership with Blount International. The Portland Metro Youth Apprenticeship Training Program helped us work with Blount to establish opportunities for Benson students to enter into apprenticeship opportunities at Blount. Blount recently recognized two Benson student apprentices: Evan Wagstaff and Joseph Wallberg. Evan and Joseph both worked full time this summer learning new skills about machine maintenance, fixing large machines and wiring spin dryers.
Homecoming-October 26
Homecoming week is October 22-26. There will be events and activities all week. The football game on Friday will be played on Buckman Field at 4:00 vs. Jefferson. This will be the first game played at Benson by the varsity football team. Note the time change. There are no bleachers so spectators are encouraged to bring lawn or camping chairs.
Breakfast
All students can get breakfast free of charge. Breakfast is served from 7:45-8:30. Those students who have late arrival can get breakfast in the cafeteria from 9:30-9:45.
Free and reduced lunch applications have to be filled out every year. The forms are available in the main office.
